Extend and maintain the brand

Mineral Technologies, an international company, owned by Downer, is recognised as a leader in mineral separation and mineral processing solutions. The company delivers a comprehensive range of integrated equipment and services in separation and processing.


We have worked with Mineral Technologies for many years, and several years ago, we refreshed their branding. This second refresh has been challenging, and it allowed us to explore various design directions and present a new design language.


Beginning this project, we presented our 'Brand Vision', which displayed a fully developed brand and its collateral. We focussed on a 'cornerstone' graphic that can be animated and used in a static form. It also becomes part of the design system and communicates the businesses Technology and Innovation DNA.


The rollout of the brand refresh began with the website, in which we designed the user experience through prototyping key content areas before the production stage. Additional brand assets have been produced and are in use and ever-evolving.


As the brand rollout proceeds, we stand back and look at it all and continue to refine it. 


Brands are fluid, and according to a brand or marketing strategy that is constantly in flux, the brand is refined to adapt and empower the business to communicate successfully.

Refreshing our branding as we celebrated 80 years provided an exciting opportunity to respect and recognise our past whilst delivering a window into our future. Having engaged AK-D on many of our graphic design requirements previously, Taso drew on his inherent knowledge to work at both a strategic and creative level in delivering a range of concepts and ideas that reinforced our key differentiators of innovation and technology. Today we are proudly rolling out our brand refresh worldwide.

Complex Messages


Our branding work delivered a style guide with clear rules on the use of the logo, colour palettes and fonts. Within the style guide, we also provided the creative direction to be implemented over time.
