The Australasian Institute of Clinical Governance (AICG) is dedicated to enhancing patient safety and quality care through excellence in clinical governance education. For the 2021 Symposium, themed ‘Connecting Clinicians,’ the challenge was to create a distinctive brand identity that stood apart from the primary AICG brand while emphasising improved patient outcomes.
My objective was to design a unique and recognisable brand for the 2021 Symposium. It needed to convey the theme of collaboration and connection among clinicians, while clearly differentiating from the overarching AICG brand identity.
To achieve this, I developed a bespoke logo symbolising collaboration and connection. The design leveraged AICG’s secondary colour palette to establish a fresh yet cohesive look. Bold colours, impactful imagery, and consistent typography were used across both print and digital materials, reinforcing brand recognition and enhancing event visibility.
Given the event’s shift to an online format due to Covid-related delays, the AICG marketing team adapted the strategy to optimise digital engagement. This included tailored digital marketing campaigns, virtual event branding, and interactive design elements that maintained the symposium’s dynamic essence in the virtual space.
Despite being postponed twice, the 2021 Symposium’s online delivery was highly successful. The distinctive branding and targeted digital marketing campaigns effectively reached the intended audience, resulting in sessions being fully booked well in advance. The unique brand identity not only differentiated the event but also strengthened AICG’s reputation for fostering clinical excellence through meaningful connections.
Planning an inaugural event is always nerve-racking; you want it to look as professional as all of the work that goes into planning it. More importantly, you want it to be successful.
In planning AICG's inaugural Patient Safety & Quality Care Symposium, we wanted the event to look different to our traditional branding and have a different logo so that it could stand on its own as its own brand.
Given Taso had already done a brilliant job of designing our core brand, it was a no-brainer to use him again. He has a great understanding of how we want our brand to present to the market, which makes the briefing process really easy and informed.
The use of AICG's secondary colour palette was a fantastic choice; these colours were very bold and in complete contrast to the main brand. This meant the Symposium communications really stood out in all of our marketing materials and digital ads. They were also very appropriate for the tone of the event and the target market. The new logo was also really eye-catching and the graphic developed really spoke to the "connection" theme we wanted to emphasise.
Working with Taso affords AICG consistently high-quality design work that is always delivered on time and on budget. Taso goes over and above to ensure we receive our work on time – even when the brief is last minute. I would highly recommend Taso to anyone looking for a reliable designer who nails their brief every time.
